Looking to buy the best Class 3+ car insurance policy in Thailand? Look no further! Our platform offers extensive customization options, enabling you to tailor your coverage to suit your needs. Type 3+ policies start from just 3,500 baht per year.

What is Voluntary Motor Insurance Type 3+?

Type 3+ Car Insurance is a mid-level coverage option available in Thailand. It provides good protection for your vehicle and liability coverage, though less comprehensive than Type 1 and Type 2+ car insurance. It's often called "Third-party plus own damage" insurance.

Type 3+ car insurance is a popular choice in Thailand, as it provides more coverage at an affordable price. Type 3+ car insurance usually covers:

  • Damage from vehicle-to-vehicle accidents
  • Damage caused to others and their vehicles or property
  • Personal accident coverage (to a limited extent)
  • Bail bond coverage

What's the difference between Type 3+ insurance and other types of car insurance?

Type 3+ car insurance offers a balance between coverage and cost. It primarily covers damages to third parties and protects your car from damages caused by other vehicles.

Type 1 car insurance offers the most comprehensive coverage, protecting you, your car, and others involved in accidents, regardless of fault.

Type 2+ car insurance is similar to Type 3+ but often includes additional coverage for fire and theft.

Type 3 car insurance only covers the damage you cause to other vehicles and people, without any protection for your own vehicle.

What does Type 3+ Car Insurance Cover?

What's usually covered

All policies differ, but in general, a Type 3+ car insurance policy will include cover and compensation for:

  • Vehicle-to-vehicle damages
  • Third-party liability (up to THB 5,000,000 for property damage and THB 10,000,000 for bodily injuries and loss of life)
  • Personal injury
  • Medical expenses
  • Bail bond coverage
  • Damages to windscreen (in some policies, when involving a third party)
  • 24-hour roadside assistance (in some policies)

What's usually not covered

Your policy will also list exclusions for which you won't be covered. Some typical exclusions are:

  • Other Collision Damage without a third party
  • Fire
  • Theft
  • Flood
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or any illegal drugs
  • Damage to your own property

How much does Type 3+ Car insurance in Thailand Cost?

Type 3+ Car Insurance offers a good balance between coverage and affordability. You can expect to pay around 5,000 baht in premiums for Type 3+ Insurance for your car. Our Type 3+ policies start at just 3,500 baht. The cost of your Type 3+ Car Insurance in Thailand will depend on several factors:

  • Vehicle make, model, and year
  • Location (province or city)
  • Age of the driver

While prices can vary, typically ranging from 3,500 THB to 15,000 THB, many Thai drivers find Type 3+ Insurance to be a cost-effective option that provides essential coverage.

How can I get Cheaper Type 3+ Car insurance in Thailand?

There are several ways to reduce your premiums for Type 3+ Insurance:

Excess or Deductible

Choosing a higher deductible can lower your premium. But make sure you can afford the higher out-of-pocket expense if you need to make a claim.

Dealership and Garage Repairs

While the Dealership Repair plan will repair your car at an official brand dealership with original manufacturer parts, Garage Repair may use aftermarket parts for your repairs. Garage repair plans are significantly cheaper and sometimes repairs are done better.

Adjusting your coverage levels

Lowering your coverage will also lower your premium. Adjust your coverage to the levels you need but don't go too low - higher coverage with a higher premium often turns out more cost-effective in the long run.

Named Driver

By naming up to three drivers on your policy, you can often lower your insurance cost premium.

Maintaining a clean driving record

Having a clean driving record will ensure your renewal premium stays where it is. Some insurers offer no-claims bonuses for accident-free years.

Installing a Dashcam

Many insurance companies offer discounts of up to 5% on car insurance premiums for drivers who have a dashcam installed in their vehicle.

Special Coverage and Additional Extras

While Type 3+ insurance doesn't offer as many extras as Type 1, some providers may offer additional coverage options:

24/7 Roadside Assistance cover

This may be available as additional coverage, including services like towing, battery jump-starts, and lockout assistance.

Replacement Car

Some policies may provide a temporary car to use until your own vehicle is repaired or replaced.

Transportation Compensation

Some policies offer reimbursement for travel expenses during the period when your vehicle is being repaired.
